Italian fashion designer, politician, Olympic skier (1914-1992). His brand is best known for his tight Pucci pants, geometric prints in all colours, vividly printed silk blouses and dresses. He was born into a noble family, studied in Milan first, then won a skiing scholarship for Reed College in US and completed a master’s degree in social science from there. In 1938, Pucci joined and served the Italian Air Force during the Second World War.
Pucci’s first design project was to make clothes for the skiing team of Reed College. He began showing his collections to international press and buyers in Florence in 1951. In 1950s he achieved a worldwide recognition. His designs featured sensual, free-flowing lines that followed the natural curves of the body.
