Luxury goods and tradition. Classical, hand-made goods. Most famous for its scarves and leather goods

Thierry Hermes (on the left) was born in Germany in 1801, and in his twenties the family moved to France. In 1837 in Paris he opened his store selling high quality harnesses for the nobility. The business remained under family management, and in the following decades the company gradually expanded to include saddlery, other leather goods such as jackets, handbags and its signature scarves. Shortly, jewelry and watches also followed. In the second half of the twentieth century fragrance and tableware became strong segments and the company launched on the stock exchange. The label drastically reduced its franchise stores. In 2005, Patrick Thomas was introduced as the first non-Hermes head of the company. The current creative directof of the brand is Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski (on the right).
