Modern, restrained and mature elegance. Quality fabrics with a focus on form a fluidity

Muir was born in London in 1928. After showing an early talent for needlework, she spent her apprenticeship sketching for Liberty's, following which she was hired as a designer for Jaeger. After leaving the company she was asked to design for the mass market, which she declined. She was then offered to launch her own label named Jane & Jane. In 1966, after just four years she left to start Jean Muir Ltd. Her focus remained form and fluidity while exclusively using the best quality of fabrics. She briefly lost control of ownership in the 1980s. Following her death in 1995, the company continued producing under the leadership of former colleagues. However, it proved to be short-lived because the company closed down in 2007.
