Minimalist, clean lines, feeling of lightness in her clothes

The German designer, also known as the "Queen of Less" was born in Germany in 1943. She was an exchange student in America and consequently moved to New York. After the unexpected death of her father she moved back to Germany and opened her fashion house in Hamburg. Her first collection was received poorly, but later listed her company on the stock exchange and a very successful period followed. The Prada Group became the majority shareholder in the company in 1999, and Jil resigned shortly thereafter. In 2003 she returned, but only for a short period, because her differences with the company's director, Mr Bertelli, could not be put aside. A decade later, once again, she returned to the company that bears her name, but this time it didn't last either. She has been a consultant with Uniqlo, designing their +J collection since 2009 and they have been working together on and off ever since.
