“West meets East”, a bold contrast of fabrics clashing together on a single garment

Kenzo is a French luxury house founded by Japanese designer Kenzo Takada. Born in 1939, he was one of the first male students admitted to Tokyo's Bunka College of Fashion. He moved to Paris in 1964 and opened a boutique in 1970 called Jungle Jap. He began with handmade women's clothing, then in 1983 started designing men and then kids and home collections in 1987. Kenzo’s designs are based on unstructured forms, no darts or zippers are used to ensure free-spirited clothing is created. Using wider sleeves and armholes, his designs shape volumes. They merge fun prints with an ethnic vibe, flowers (the house’s signature) and textures.
