Marc Jacobs was born in 1963 in New York City. He attended the High School of Art and Design and studied at the Parsons School of Design in New York. He is the head designer for Marc Jacobs New York since 1993 as well as Marc by Marc Jacobs, a diffusion line, with over 200 retail stores around the globe. He was the creative director of Louis Vuitton from 1997 to 2014. He turned the brand into a global powerhouse. In 2013 Jacobs partnered with Sephora to launch his beauty line. Jacobs has won the Council of Fashion Designers of America award several times. Marc himself says he doesn’t have a signature: There is no one silhouette, style or technique you can point to and say “that’s Marc.”
