“The designs should surpass the designer”, simple, abstract, avant garde, deconstructive, influential

The Maison Martin Margiela was founded in 1988 in Paris, and presented its first prêt-à-porter collection for spring/summer 1989. The Making of Maison Martin Margiela`s Artisanal Collection/Behind the scenes
Since being established in 1989, Maison Martin Margiela has presented its prêt-à-porter collections of dresses, accessories, and artwork with the label "Artisanal", or "handmade". "Our most important sources of inspiration have always been excesses and the transformations of everyday life", is the philosophy behind the Maison Martin Margiela Artisanal Collection. In the spirit of sophisticated eco-compatibility, used material of all types and purposes gets brought back to life with meticulous craftsmanship, transforming into new objects that are surprising and extraordinary, while maintaining the traces of time and history -- one of the Maison's signature forms of creative expression.
